First Word for January 2025
Despite the cold this morning, our 6AM prayer in Lower Main was filled with believers crying out to God for more of his presence and power to transform lives, families, churches, and cities.
Paul E Miller said, “…if you give God the space, he will touch your soul. God knows you are exhausted, but at the same time he longs to be part of your life. A feast awaits.” This is so true. There is a feast awaiting as we draw near to God. We behold him. We are changed.
We pray based on God’s promises.
Ezekiel 39:29 says, “And I will not hide my face anymore from them, when I pour out my Spirit upon the house of Israel, declares the Lord God.”
Andrew Murray said, “It is as though the promises are waiting for prayer for their fulfillment. We may and must most confidently expect an answer to our prayer.”
We pray because we rely on God.
Without him we don’t have the power or the resources necessary for the things he has called us to do.
We pray because we are chosen to ask.
In John 15:16 Jesus said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”
Let’s go!
